Nhl 2004 rebuilt dynastyendyear7/6/2023 ![]() ![]() A couple of years went by and and it was the 2003-2004 season. He bounced back quick and began looking like the Messier that Rangers fans knew and loved. 3 seasons of injury and dissapointment in Vancouver led to the Rangers bringing back the Captain before the 2000-2001 season. Messier signed with the team he helped to defeat for the 1994 Stanley Cup, the Vancouver Canucks. After the 1996-1997 the Rangers decided not to resign "The Franchise". After the Rangers win in '94 the club fell on hard times finsihing with sub-par seasons. Messier made several All Star appearances and won many awards in his brilliant career including the Hart Trophy 2 times (MVP) and 6 Stanley Cups. ![]() By 1994 the Rangers were at their peak and led by "The Captain", won their first Stanley Cup in 54 years. ![]() Not long after, the Madison Square Garden fans began to embrace #11. Only 3 days later Messier was named Captain of the historic franchise. Then on October 4th, 1991 a day that will probably go down in NHL history as the most important trade ever, Messier was dealt to the Rangers. For years Mark played in the shadow of Wayne Gretzky in Edmonton, helping the team become a dynasty. You all know who I'm talking about.Mark Messier. Today on Monday September 12th, 2005 one of the most famous and talented New York Rangers to date retired.
